Quiet, Beautiful Days on the Water with Solar Moves in Tavira

Solar Moves – Eco-friendly Boat Tours & Trips is a must for anyone craving a calmer, more immersive way to experience Tavira from the water. As a dedicated boat tour agency departing near the ferry area, Solar Moves specializes in unhurried cruises through the Ria Formosa—swapping noisy engines for a whisper-quiet, solar-powered ride that instantly changes the mood of the day. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels thoughtfully curated from start to finish.

Guests regularly describe private trips as exceptionally well organized, with a friendly skipper who makes the experience feel effortless. One of the most loved moments is stopping at a secluded island or deserted beach for a swim. With clear water and a relaxed pace, it’s easy to see why people call it unforgettable—part adventure, part reset button. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly boat tour that still feels like a treat, this is exactly that sweet spot.

Food and wine lovers also have plenty to get excited about. Solar Moves offers experiences such as a gastronomic cruise and a wine-tasting tour—perfect if you want your time on the lagoon to include local flavors. The quiet of the solar vessel makes conversation easy, and the overall vibe leans more “floating tasting room” than “tourist boat,” without losing the charm of exploring the coastline.

For nature enthusiasts, the Ria Formosa delivers in a big way. Birdwatchers frequently mention incredible sightings—flamingos in flight along with terns, herons, egrets, storks, and other waders. Because the boat glides along silently, you’re more likely to feel close to the wildlife rather than disrupting it, which makes the whole encounter feel more respectful and memorable.

If you want a solar boat tour led by a local who shares the area’s history naturally and warmly, Solar Moves is a standout choice for couples, families, and small groups. It’s the kind of day you’ll want to repeat—and many people do.

An absolutely incredible boat excursion! The staff was very pleasant, welcoming, and sociable throughout the entire tour. The explanations were very interesting and informative, and we learned a lot during the excursion. The atmosphere was perfect and relaxing. A truly enjoyable experience that I highly recommend!

The guide was awful, instead of allowing us to enjoy the trip, he proceeded to tell us everything he didn't like in the world. A total waste of 90 euros for 2 people. Don't do it. The owner of the company has replied saying that I must have the wrong company. I rang the number which is on the board of their advertisement. The conversation was on Whatsapp and it was signed Helio Soares for Solar Moves. If they want to confirm that it is the right company, they should contact me.

We enjoyed our gastronomical tour with Helio so much that we booked a second wine tasting tour a week later when a friend was visiting. Since it’s a solar powered vessel it’s whisper quiet. Our captain, Helio, is native to Tavira and was very friendly, knowledgeable and kind during the entire 3 hour tour. We will definitely take all our visitors on tours.

Wonderful afternoon cruising around the Ria Formosa, leaving and returning from near the ferry in Tavira. Our guide and skipper Helios was very knowledgeable. As a local he could tell us all about the area and its history. I am a keen bird watcher and seeing flamingos in flight along with so many other birds (terns, herons, egrits, storks, waders etc) was absolutely awesome. We stopped at a deserted beach and my daughter and I had a swim. The solar boat is silent, so you get a wonderful peaceful experience. Thoroughly recommend. I suggest contacting the company via WhatsApp (their is a link on their website) you can then quickly work out the day/time/trip that works for you.

We rented two e-bikes here. We were staying at AP Cabanas, just around the corner, so this was ideal. They don't seem to have e-bikes, but you can reserve them. We reserved them for Sunday, and right at 10:00 they were delivered with helmets, and we received a short but concise explanation. We cycled up the Cerro de São Miguel with them. We left the bikes and keys at the hotel, and they were picked up there again. Very convenient!
