Restaurante O Picnic is a down-to-earth Portuguese restaurant in Silves where the food does the talking. It’s the kind of place you choose when you want something traditional, filling, and genuinely homemade—no gimmicks, no overthinking, just honest cooking and a relaxed, local feel.
What makes O Picnic especially appealing is the daily-changing menu. Instead of an endless list of dishes, you’ll typically find a few options that reflect what’s best that day—comforting plates like tender pork served with potatoes, or fish paired with pasta. Diners regularly highlight how generous the portions are, with meat that’s soft, flavorful, and satisfying. If you’re in the mood for something from the sea, the grilled stuffed squid has earned a reputation as a standout: straightforward Portuguese grilling, cooked well, and served in a way that feels true to the region.
The atmosphere is traditional and unpretentious, making it a good fit for families and casual lunches. Even if Portuguese is the main language in service, the experience tends to be smooth and welcoming—especially when you arrive hungry and open to trying what’s on offer. Many guests appreciate the strong value, where a full lunch can include more than just the main plate—often finishing with a sweet touch like dessert and the option to add coffee without turning the meal into an expensive outing.
If your idea of a perfect meal in the Algarve is traditional Portuguese food served with warmth and zero fuss, Restaurante O Picnic is an easy recommendation. Come for lunch, ask what’s on today, and enjoy a true local-style meal in Silves.

2 months agoA lovely little family-run restaurant with incredibly delicious Portuguese cuisine. We've been there three times already and will definitely come back when we're in Silves :) . The daily specials are highly recommended and reasonably priced, as are the coffee and desserts. If you're looking for Bifana, this is the place to go too. The staff is extremely friendly and speaks English.
