Restaurante Alphonso’s is the kind of place you’re happy to stumble upon—welcoming, unfussy, and reliably satisfying. Set on R. Abertura Mar in Quarteira, it’s a comfortable option for families, couples, and anyone looking for hearty food served with genuine warmth rather than fuss.
The atmosphere is a big part of the appeal. Diners often describe it as family-feeling and friendly, with staff who make you feel looked after from the moment you arrive. It’s not about fine dining theatre—just good service, a relaxed room, and a pace that suits an easy holiday dinner. That’s exactly why so many visitors end up returning multiple times during a single stay.
The menu leans into simple, wholesome choices that work for mixed groups. Families appreciate the kid-friendly pasta options (like spaghetti with tomato and ham), while adults often go for fresh fish and classic Portuguese mains. Seafood lovers will feel right at home here, with well-cooked daily options that balance quality and value. The golden sea bream is a popular pick, and the Portuguese house steak is another go-to when you want something filling and satisfying.
Don’t overlook the little extras—starters like olives and garlicky carrots have a way of setting the tone, and sides of fresh vegetables and mixed salad round out the meal nicely. If you have room at the end, the house chocolate pudding is frequently mentioned as a sweet finish that hits the spot.
For visitors staying nearby, the location is a real bonus, and the overall experience delivers what people want from a dependable local restaurant: Portuguese cuisine, fresh seafood, and a friendly family restaurant vibe that keeps you coming back.

in the last weekWe chose this restaurant based on the reviews we read. They are overwhelmed by the amount of people that came in the same time with us. People who came after us got their food before. Lots of them. They forgot about a soup who supposed to be read in seconds. I don’t recommend it if you are hungry, or don’t have time. I had a shrimp curry which was not bad. The other thing we ordered was “prato do dia” (plate of the day) which was fast food fish with frozen rice and vegetables (supermarket type).

in the last weekThe food wasn't bad, but it took them over an hour to serve us... and it wasn't even full. The staff were very friendly. I don't recommend ordering the "kittens in garlic sauce"... they give you three grilled prawns and that's it... there were four of us and we had to share one between two... and they charge you 12 or 14 euros.
