Tres Marias brings a refined, chef-driven touch to the Vila Real de Santo António dining scene—without losing the warmth that makes a meal feel special. It’s the kind of restaurant people discover once and immediately want to return to, thanks to a menu that feels thoughtfully composed, seasonal in spirit, and confidently executed. If you enjoy food that’s both comforting and surprising, this is a spot to put at the top of your list.
Guests often describe the menu as “refreshing,” with dishes that lean into modern gastronomy while staying approachable. Starters set the tone: mackerel gravlax is a standout for those who like bright, clean flavors, and you’ll also find beautifully balanced plates that mix freshness with originality—like tomato salad paired with tuna tartare and orange. There’s also a nostalgic nod to a beloved local burger, brought back with care and quality that keeps people talking.
Main courses keep the momentum going, with options that feel elevated but satisfying. The oxtail served on potato purée is frequently singled out as a must-order—rich, slow-cooked comfort with a polished presentation. And if you save room, you’ll be rewarded: desserts here aren’t an afterthought. Diners rave about the bonofi “inferno,” plus sweet finales like carob fondant and quindim that land as a true highlight of the meal.
Service is regularly described as friendly and attentive, and the ambiance helps everything feel like an occasion—whether you’re out for a long lunch, a date night, or a relaxed evening with friends. Another bonus: they also serve breakfast and brunch from 10am, making it easy to revisit and try a different side of the kitchen. For anyone seeking fine dining energy in a welcoming setting, Tres Marias is an exciting addition to local eating in Vila Real de Santo António.

in the last weekWe came across Tres Marías while looking for a place to eat and were so impressed that we decided to return on our last evening in town. On our first visit, we shared the Pica Pau of Calf Liver, the Brioche with Guacamole and Braised Octopus, and the Pink Tomato Carpaccio Estupeta. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and a pleasure to eat. When we returned, we couldn't resist ordering the braised octopus again, along with the Pork Cheeks. Once again, the food was outstanding, and every dish was cooked to perfection.
