Taskinha La rep is a small, peaceful restaurant in Vila Real de Santo António that wins people over with heart, simplicity, and seriously satisfying food. Run by a welcoming couple who genuinely look after their guests, it’s the type of place you stumble upon once—and then start planning your next visit before you’ve even finished the meal.
The menu is intentionally limited, and that’s part of the charm: instead of trying to do everything, the kitchen focuses on dishes they can cook well, consistently. Expect an unpretentious mix of Portuguese comfort and a distinct Brazilian twist—flavors that feel homemade, generous, and easy to love. Visitors often mention how good the food is for the price, making it a smart pick when you want something filling without the fuss.
One of the biggest draws is the weekend routine: many regulars come specifically for the Brazilian feijoada on Saturdays. It’s a hearty, traditional plate that hits the spot and feels like a special treat—especially if you’re craving something different from the usual coastal menu. While you can often walk in, it’s worth planning ahead on weekends if you want to guarantee your table.
Beyond the food, what sets Taskinha La rep apart is the calm, friendly vibe. People describe it as a relaxing place to sit and recharge, with owners who are kind, attentive, and happy to help. If you’re exploring the area and want a local meal with personality—where Brazilian-Portuguese cuisine is the star—this little taskinha is an easy recommendation for lunch or a casual dinner that feels genuinely welcoming.

in the last weekA small, traditional Portuguese-style tavern, located a bit away from the main shopping area. The menu is short, which is typical for this area. I'll describe what I ate: cod fritters, which were the most tender I've ever had, and I've had a lot. I did wish they had a stronger cod flavor. Even so, they were good. The fried squid (lulinhas fritas) were very good. I can't say much about the francesinha; we ordered it just to try it since it was our first time, and I'm not a fan of this type of dish. It wasn't bad. The portion sizes are somewhat smaller than usual in Portugal, but the prices are also lower. On the downside, the fries were frozen. Anyway, it's an option if you're in the area.
