Taberna Cantoria is a charming stop in Loulé that blends the warmth of a neighbourhood hangout with the character of a beautifully styled bar-restaurant. Step inside and you’ll notice the details right away—antiques and vintage touches that give the space personality—then you’ll hear it: music that keeps the mood upbeat without feeling overdone.
Food-wise, this is a place people return to for flavour and comfort. The tacos are a highlight, often praised for being genuinely great, and the meat tends to steal the show—rich, well-seasoned, and memorable. Even the small touches stand out, like the distinctive Portuguese salt that adds a lively edge to the dishes. If you’re after something easy and satisfying, it’s ideal for a quick bite that still feels like a treat.
Drinks are another reason to linger. Many guests describe spending a fabulous couple of hours here enjoying a glass (or two) of lovely wine, and it’s the kind of spot that encourages you to slow down—whether you’re meeting friends, starting your night, or simply taking a break during a stroll around town.
What really ties it together is the atmosphere. Locals often gather outside with small drinks, chatting and watching the street, and visitors are typically welcomed into the same relaxed rhythm. The staff bring lively energy while keeping things friendly and approachable, which makes the whole experience feel effortless.
If you’re looking for a bar and restaurant that feels authentic, social, and a little bit special, Taberna Cantoria delivers. For anyone exploring Loulé and wanting tacos and wine in a setting with real character, it’s an easy place to put on your shortlist—and a great one to revisit.

Recomendo vivamente e voltarei certamente!

a month agoSome plates are nice. Some are not. Chorizo came extremely salty to the point it gave salt burn in the mouth. Both waiters forgot orders, ordered a drink that never came from 1 and food that never came from another. Waiter came 20 mins later to ask 2 of our group what they had ordered as they had forgotten. Long wait. They seemed to have sorted the locals that sat down after us first, maybe they ordered beforehand, but didn't seem like it. Make sure to go to the restaurant side if you want to eat anything more than a sandwich/tapa. Locals were extremely loud, could barely hear the people at my table, not the restaurants fault and can not paint them all with the same brush but thought it was worth a mention if you want a quieter place to eat.
