Between Lagos’s headline beaches, a steep gully drops to Praia dos Pinheiros: a small cove in the Ponta da Piedade cliff coast that has long been used as a naturist beach, a fact worth knowing before you climb down, whichever way you take it. It’s unofficial in every sense: no facilities, no lifeguards, and an access path that is steep, loose in places and not maintained.

The cove itself is classic Lagos geology: gold cliffs, clear water, sand that shrinks at high tide. The cliffs are unstable and the beach is unsupervised; keep away from the rock base and don’t swim out far alone.

Who it’s for: naturists, mainly (it’s one of the coast’s established spots), and anyone after a quiet cove who doesn’t mind the company or the climb. If you want the same geology with easier access, Camilo and Dona Ana are minutes away.
