2 weeks agoFor the first time after so many trips and hikes in Portugal, we had an experience like this. Before leaving for our stop on the Rota Vicentina, we stopped for breakfast at this bar. I ordered two cafés with leite and two croissants. The bill came to €9.20, and I was disappointed but paid it, certain that the waiter had added extras. It was the first time I'd paid so much; we'd spent €6 at most. I thought about it for a bit, because I was annoyed by the different treatment we'd received simply because we were foreigners (anyone who came in for a coffee paid €1). When I brought the cups back inside, I asked for an explanation, and the waiter confirmed that the two drinks cost €1.80 each, so I asked him how it could have cost over €9. Obviously, he didn't know what to say, but he did ask me where we were from as if that were the only reason. I said goodbye and we left. I'm sorry that there can be people like this in Portugal too. Luckily, this is the first time we've been coming here for many years.

Very friendly staff team and tasty snack menu,with a great home made soup and well stocked dainty cakes .Cosy all year round seating inside ,and two outside bright, protected terraces ,one with bit sun.Popular with hikers and cyclists alike.My favourite, their chicken topped crunchy pizza .A bit like sourdough .Handy place for shoppers to taje a break,right next to a big shaded Aldi car park.
