Right in the beachside cave town of Benagil, Dumar d’benagil is one of those restaurants in Lagoa that instantly feels like a holiday highlight. The location sets the tone—coastal, relaxed, and perfect for a long lunch—while the kitchen backs it up with premium ingredients and confident, flavor-forward cooking. Guests regularly describe the experience as spectacular from start to finish, with attentive timing and service that stays friendly and focused without feeling intrusive.
If you’re here for seafood (and you should be), the fresh grilled fish is a clear star: perfectly seasoned, beautifully cooked, and tasting as fresh as it looks. The fish and shrimp skewer is often called out as a “best of the trip” kind of dish—simple, satisfying, and done with real skill. For something comforting and traditional, fried cod paired with roast potatoes, green pepper, onions, and tartar-style dressing hits the spot with hearty Portuguese flavour.
There’s also a more adventurous side to the menu. Black rice with squid is frequently praised for its depth and texture—rich, savory, and an easy recommendation if you want something beyond the grill. And for a lighter, tropical twist, the prawn salad with mango and papaya brings a fresh, exotic balance that works brilliantly in a seaside setting.
Don’t skip the sides: the hand-cut fries are described as crispy, golden, and dangerously addictive—exactly what you want alongside grilled fish. Overall, the experience feels well-judged: quality that matches the setting, portions that satisfy, and a team that keeps everything running smoothly.
For a polished, memorable meal in Benagil, Dumar d’benagil is an excellent choice for anyone seeking premium seafood and a true coastal atmosphere in Lagoa.

in the last weekRestaurante mil estrelas! Super RECOMENDO. Restaurante mil estrelas.

in the last weekBel posto, buona anche la cucina, se non fosse l'ora e mezzo di attesa tra l'ordine e l'arrivo dei piatti. Esagerato veramente. Prezzo onesto, ma non ci tornerei sapendo di dover aspettare così tanto. C'è sicuramente qualcosa da sistemare...

in the last weekThe average wait time while seated is half an hour until you order your drink and an hour after ordering your food. The service is sloooow, clearly understaffed. They brazenly ask for your drink order and then, a while later, your food order; that's when you're practically dying of waiting… an unbearable wait… They bring out dishes at random, first the main course, then the appetizer, a disaster. It's not worth the wait. Bad, very bad. An experience to avoid. After 3 hours… they finally let you go home… bad…

a week agoThe food was good, but the portions weren't very big. Parking is difficult unless you leave your car in the parking lot, because the town itself is small.
