austa in Almancil is the kind of restaurant you plan a night around—then end up talking about long after you’ve left. Tucked along R. Cristóvão Pires Norte, it delivers a modern, thoughtful take on fine dining that feels both special-occasion worthy and genuinely welcoming. The room is as carefully considered as the plate: guests often mention the intentional design details and the calm, beautiful environment that makes you want to linger.
What stands out most is the way the menu celebrates the Algarve through a creative, seasonal lens. Dishes arrive with a sense of purpose—clever combinations, balanced flavours, and presentation that feels elegant without being fussy. If you’re chasing standout bites, people regularly rave about the carabineiro and a surprisingly memorable miso pudding, both praised for freshness and depth. And the opening moments set the tone: exceptional sourdough with homemade butter that many describe as the kind of simple start that signals you’re in very good hands.
Service here is another reason diners return. Plates are explained clearly and delivered with warmth, making the whole experience feel personal rather than formal. It’s also a strong choice if your table has different preferences—there are well-considered vegetarian options and alcohol-free drinks that feel crafted, not like an afterthought. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, planning a date night, or simply want to see what contemporary Algarve cooking can be, seasonal tasting-style dining at austa is hard to beat. Many visitors leave already planning their next visit—often for the much-talked-about brunch and breakfast menu.

in the last weekWe first discovered Austa while planning our elopement and even before setting foot in the restaurant, the team made us feel welcomed and cared for. So decided to come for brunch first, just to get a feel for the place. That visit alone was enough to understand we had made the right choice. The hospitality was genuinely astonishing. A few days later, we returned for dinner to celebrate our marriage with our 4-month-old baby girl as our little witness and the team delivered something truly magnificent. From the very beginning, Emma, Barbara, Laïla, and David took extraordinary care of us. Emma, in particular, is funny, charming, and deeply intentional about the experience she creates. That energy was present in every interaction ; effortless, warm, and completely genuine. Every detail felt considered. Every request was met before we even had to ask. The service consistently went far beyond what we expected not just attentive. The space itself is beautiful, but it's the people who make it truly unforgettable. From the coffee to the meal, from recommendations to the smallest gestures, everything was handled with intention and heart. We weren't just guests. We felt like family. Deep gratitude to Emma, Barbara, and the entire Austa team. With love, JM, Cath & Olie

a week agoDo you know that feeling when you discover a restaurant and instantly know it will become a family tradition to come back every year during your holiday? This is exactly that kind of place. We had an amazing lunch here and enjoyed every minute of it. Even our kids loved the atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings. The food was outstanding, and the quality of every dish was exceptional. Thank you for such a wonderful experience—we can't wait to come back next year!
