On Avenida do Cabo Bojador, just outside the busiest stretch of Lagos, Cafetaria Paraki is the definition of a local hidden gem — a small, family-run café with a sunny terrace where the orange juice is squeezed while you watch and the coffee draws praise from visitors who thought they knew good coffee. More than one guest has called both the best they’ve ever had, which for a modest neighbourhood café is quite the calling card.

The offer is simple and done properly: excellent coffee, truly fresh orange juice, good pastries and well-made toasties, at prices that feel like a different decade — a full breakfast for two costs less than a single beachfront cocktail. It’s the kind of value that explains why the terrace fills with locals as reliably as holidaymakers, always the surest sign a café is doing things right.

The service gives Paraki its character. The young team — polite, quick and with excellent English — has a knack for remembering returning faces; golf groups who stop by year after year find themselves greeted like old friends. That personal touch, rare even in far grander establishments, is what turns a coffee stop into a daily ritual.

For visitors staying west of the centre it’s a natural morning anchor, and for anyone in Lagos it’s worth the short detour: come for breakfast before the beach, order the orange juice without hesitation, and don’t be surprised if you’re back the next morning. Small, honest and quietly excellent — the Algarve café experience as it should be.

This is for sure my cafe of choice. A very well run family business with a warm and friendly welcome and very tasty food made with love! Sebastian is an absolute superstar front of house... a great host , with a very admirable work ethic. Definitely recommend. Open from 7am with parking and a chilled vibe. X

Sebastian is a magnificent front of house. Do not miss out on this gem of a cafe. Countless types of breads sandwich fillings and bifanas. Daily special dish always available. Piano ribs are superb. AND they take their wines very seriously.
