Restaurante O Pina: A True Taste of Traditional Silves, Served Family-Style

Restaurante O Pina is a classic, family-run restaurant in Silves where tradition isn’t a theme—it’s simply how things are done. With generations working together, the experience feels personal and genuine, from the warm welcome to the way each dish is explained at the table. It’s relaxed, unpretentious, and exactly the kind of spot you choose when you want to eat like a local.

One thing to know before you go: there isn’t a written menu. Instead, the kitchen cooks what’s best that day, and the team talks you through the options with care. Expect a couple of meat dishes and a fish dish, changing daily based on what’s fresh. That simple format is part of the charm—there’s an easy confidence to it, and it often leads to some of the most memorable meals of a trip.

On the table, you’ll find the kind of Portuguese comfort food that’s hard to beat. Diners often rave about hearty feijoada (pork with beans), beautifully cooked cod with potatoes, and fresh fried fish, all served in generous portions. There are also dishes like chicken stew and the classic pork and clams—rich, savory, and perfect for a long, leisurely lunch. If you’re gluten-free, you’ll appreciate that many of the daily options naturally fit that need, making it easier to enjoy traditional food without overthinking it.

Service is friendly and welcoming, with a pace that suits the atmosphere—more “take your time” than “in and out.” It’s a great choice if you’re not in a rush and want to settle in. Do note that payment is typically cash, so it’s worth being prepared.

Finish on a sweet note if you can—desserts here lean traditional too, and something as simple as orange with cinnamon can be a surprisingly perfect ending. For a genuine experience of traditional Portuguese dishes in Silves, O Pina is a must.

Homemade food, the clams with pork were delicious, excellent, the chicken with rice was also great, and the dessert was homemade cake. The owner is a wonderful person, I highly recommend it, it's worth it, I'll be back! 👏👏

Quiet place, generous portions; we ordered the fish of the day and pork. Very good, although one tray would have been enough. The owner was lovely.

Unfortunately, I followed AI's recommendations and didn't check them out in a hurry (never do). There are plenty of cheaper and better restaurants nearby. It was impossible to get a half portion for the kids. We had memories of delicious sea bream from Lagos for less, and that put me to sleep. The fish was terrible, frozen, and not sea bream, just some small one, served before 3 PM as a daily special. No salads, drinks, or starters included. The wait was about 45 minutes. I had fries from the supermarket. I ate the rice and picked at the fish because I was incredibly hungry and expecting a long journey. The kids didn't even touch the bony fish, which tasted like the worst kind of mackerel. With drinks, we paid €63 for four people. We've never eaten that expensive in Spain or Portugal before. Maybe it's just local tastes.
