Tipsee Turtles in Almancil is an easy place to miss—and a hard one to forget once you’ve found it. Reopened with new energy, it’s built a reputation as a genuine hidden gem: friendly, attentive hospitality, a fun concept, and a relaxed setting that suits everything from an impromptu date night to a casual meal with friends. If you like trying a little bit of everything rather than committing to one big entrée, you’ll feel right at home here.
The menu leans into variety, inviting you to pick and choose small plates inspired by different countries. That means your table can turn into a tasting tour—steamed buns with pork, ratatouille, and crispy fried chicken can comfortably become a shared spread for two, with enough flavor and texture to keep things interesting. Guests frequently describe the food as really tasty, well-priced, and satisfying, with portions that surprise in the best way.
There are also specific dishes people come back for. The spicy chicken is often recommended for good reason: crunchy, saucy, and rich in flavor—exactly the kind of craveable dish that makes you plan a repeat visit before you’ve even paid the bill. Seasonal menus and set dinners can add extra value, especially when they’re paired with thoughtful touches like house-made drinks and generous inclusions.
Atmosphere matters here too. The outdoor terrace is a highlight for an easygoing evening, and if you’re looking for a little extra energy, Friday nights bring live music, turning dinner into a full night out. For a warm welcome, global bites, and a fun, local feel, Tipsee Turtles is a standout restaurant to try in Almancil.

2 weeks agoGopi, Chef Ruchi, and our waiter (whose name we unfortunately didn't catch) made my family's visit a fantastic experience. We booked because we were craving seafood, and the great reviews definitely lived up to the hype. Every dish was packed with flavour, the portions were generous, and the bread was baked fresh to order. The standout for me was the mussels in a rich tomato sauce—it was so delicious we ordered extra bread just to finish every last drop. The prawns and herb-crusted seabream were equally impressive, especially with the perfectly balanced lemon and herb sauce. Even the beer-battered chicken was excellent and left us completely full. Despite having no room left, we couldn't resist sharing a small slice of lemon tart with vanilla ice cream—and it disappeared in seconds. Outstanding food, warm hospitality, and an experience we'll happily return for if we are ever back in the Algarve.

2 weeks agoWe thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. The mussels in a tomato sauce were delicious as a starter .My herb crusted seabream was cooked to perfection and the garlic prawns were outstanding. The lemon tart with vanilla ice cream was the perfect pudding. The owner and chef were very attentive. I highly recommend visiting this place.
