The name means ‘little kisses’, and the beach is scaled to match: a small cove on the Carvoeiro coast, hemmed in by the same honey-coloured rock that made its neighbours famous, without ever making the postcard racks itself. Carvoeiro’s headline beaches absorb the crowds; Beijinhos is what’s left over, and what’s left over is quietly excellent: golden cliffs, a modest pocket of sand, clear water.
Being small cuts both ways. At low water it’s an intimate, sheltered cove; as the tide comes in the sand shrinks fast, and on a busy summer day there simply isn’t much of it to share. This is a beach to time, not to camp on.
When to go: low tide, full stop. Check the tables before you commit. Mornings are quietest; late light does what it always does to Lagoa sandstone, which is set it glowing.
Who it’s for: people staying in Carvoeiro who want a cove off the main drag; photographers collecting the coast’s smaller frames; couples. Not for anyone who measures a beach in square metres of towel space; the big-sand options are minutes away.
