The Aljezur coast does not do gentle introductions, and Praia da Fateixa is one of its lesser-known corners: a small, wild pocket of the Costa Vicentina, inside the protected sweep of the natural park, where dark cliffs, Atlantic swell and hard west-coast light set the terms.

This is a beach to take on the coast’s conditions. There are no services and no supervision, and access should be checked locally rather than assumed: much of this coastline is reached by rough tracks and informal paths. The cliffs are unstable and shed rock; keep back from the base and away from the edges above. The sea here is serious: this is swell coast, not sheltered-cove Algarve.

Who it’s for: west-coast wanderers who already like Aljezur’s emptier corners and want one more name that most maps skip.
