A small cove on the Albufeira coast that most beach lists skip, and no relation to the busy fishing harbour of the same name in Sagres. Baleeira is a pocket of sand and rock below ochre cliffs, with none of the infrastructure that defines this municipality’s better-known beaches: no bar, no loungers, no lifeguard post to rely on.

That absence is the appeal and the warning in one. The cliffs above are soft Algarve sandstone, so keep clear of the rock face and the unfenced edges above it, and treat the sea as unsupervised, because it is.

Who it’s for: cove-hunters happy to trade comfort for quiet, and photographers collecting the coast’s smaller, unphotographed corners. Verify access locally before building a trip around it.
