Tucked away down Beco das Cegonhas (and easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there), O Jorge is one of those places locals love recommending when friends ask where to eat in Albufeira. It sits discreetly behind a supermarket building, but once you step inside, you’ll find a warm, lovely dining room and a team that makes you feel instantly welcome. It’s the kind of restaurant that turns a simple night out into a proper occasion—whether you’re celebrating a birthday, planning a family meal, or just craving a satisfying dinner that feels authentically Portuguese.
Guests regularly talk about the “delightful food” and how everything arrives generous and well-presented, with large portions that make it easy to share starters and still leave happy. If you like bold, traditional flavours, start with the chorizo—often called out as a standout—then move on to mains that are cooked with care and served piping hot. The chicken in particular gets plenty of praise for being cooked to perfection, and the kitchen consistently delivers that comforting, home-style feel that makes you want to come back again during the same trip.
What really elevates the experience at O Jorge is the hospitality. Service is described as attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm, with staff who keep things running smoothly while still taking time to chat. Many visitors mention the owner by name and appreciate the personal touch—there’s a sense that everyone here takes pride in creating a memorable evening for every table. Add in great value pricing for the portion size and quality, and it’s easy to see why people call it a must-visit when dining around Albufeira.
If you’re searching for authentic Portuguese dishes in a relaxed setting—away from the loud, obvious tourist strips—O Jorge is well worth the short detour. Come hungry, take your time, and expect a meal that feels generous in every way: flavour, service, and atmosphere.

in the last weekWe had a lovely dinner at O Jorge! We ordered the piri-piri chicken, and it was grilled to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. A special thanks to Karan, who took great care of us throughout the evening. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We truly appreciated his excellent service and hospitality!

in the last weekThere's definitely been a change of ownership; the reviews describe a place serving typical Portuguese dishes, and now it's a snack bar with a mix of everything... The portions are generous, sure, but not good. The waiter is very nice, but that's not enough. Really. It's not Portuguese cuisine, but a mix of Turkish and greasy, unappetizing food.
