Praia da Barradinha is one of the Costa Vicentina’s barely-signed coves — a small pocket of sand and rock below the dark cliffs of the Aljezur coast, off the path networks rather than on any beach itinerary. Access is on foot via informal cliff paths, there are no services of any kind, and the beach can shrink to almost nothing on a big tide. This is the wild west coast at its most unmediated: Atlantic swell, wind, and rock.
The cliffs along this coast are unstable and the sea is serious — stay away from the cliff base, treat the swell with respect, and don’t swim here without real confidence in the conditions; there is no supervision of any kind.
When to go: calm, low-tide days only. Who it’s for: coast walkers and west-coast completists who want a stretch of Aljezur shore with nobody on it — everyone else is better served by Arrifana or Monte Clérigo up the coast.
