City beach, no apologies. Praia dos Alemães is part of Albufeira’s long urban front — the stretch of sand east of the old town, running toward Praia da Oura, backed by hotels, apartment blocks and the noise of a resort town in season. If you came to the Algarve for wild coves, keep driving. If you’re staying in Albufeira and want good sand minutes from your door, this is the honest answer.

And the sand is good — wide, golden and cleanly kept, with the full summer apparatus of a resort beach along the back. The water is typical central-Algarve: clear, usually manageable, family-workable on most days.

When to go: early. First thing in the morning the beach is long, empty and softly lit, and belongs to swimmers and runners; by midday in July it’s towel-to-towel and stays that way until evening. Off-season it becomes a different beach entirely — locals, dog walkers and clean winter light.

Who it’s for: Albufeira-based visitors who want zero logistics, families who rate facilities over seclusion, and people-watchers — the summer parade here is its own spectacle. Photographers should come at dawn or not at all.
