Afonso III restaurant is a reliable favorite in Loulé for anyone who wants traditional Portuguese flavors without fuss. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, letting the food do the talking.

The kitchen focuses on hearty, authentic dishes that hit the spot every time. One must-try specialty is Porco de amêijoas (pork with clams), a classic combination that regulars return for again and again. The restaurant was incredibly good, everything was fresh, it was very, very good, but the problem was the wait – over an hour to be served.
