Bananna Café Bistrot and Bar on R. do Barranco brings a bright, friendly energy to the heart of Carvoeiro. It’s the kind of spot you pop into for a quick lunch or a refreshing drink—and end up staying a little longer because the atmosphere is so welcoming. With its cool interior and relaxed feel, it works equally well for solo travellers, couples, or families looking for something light, colourful, and freshly made.
The menu leans into feel-good favourites, especially when you want something nourishing without sacrificing flavour. The açai bowls are a standout—often described as hearty and genuinely satisfying, not just a snack. Smoothie fans will also find plenty to love here, with blends that taste vibrant and fresh. If you’re after something classic and fun, the banana milkshake is a crowd-pleaser and a must-try for anyone who wants a sweet treat done right.
What makes Bananna Café especially enjoyable is the attention to detail. Drinks are full of flavour, food presentation is consistently appealing, and everything is prepared fresh—so a small wait can happen when it’s busy. The overall experience feels worth it, particularly if you’re in holiday mode and happy to slow down for quality.
Hospitality is a big part of the charm. Guests often mention how friendly and patient the owner and staff are, creating a space that feels inclusive and easy-going. It’s not unusual to see people lingering over their bowls and smoothies, chatting, or even playing a card game—proof that this is more than just a quick stop for food.
If you’re searching for a casual, upbeat café in Carvoeiro that’s great for lunch, daytime drinks, or a healthy pick-me-up between beach time and exploring, Bananna Café Bistrot and Bar is a solid choice. Come hungry, try an açai bowl, and leave with the sense you’ve found one of the town’s most personable little hangouts.

in the last weekWe had delicious smoothies that were made on the spot as an afternoon treat. The owner was very attentive and provided local travel tips.

2 weeks agoIt's not your average coffee shop, nor is it your average ice cream parlor, so if you're just going for a simple coffee, it's expensive. I understand that the decor, location, music, and atmosphere come at a price. I can't fault what I ordered, nor can I comment on the pastries or other food. That's why I'm giving it three stars for everything except the staff, who were attentive and friendly.

a month agoThis is a hidden gem in this town, the owners made amazing food. It was fresh. It was delightful. The service was incredible. Would go there over and over again… I had the card, pizza, bruschetta, and empanada, and everything was made fresh in-house
