Restaurante o manjar is a great pick when you want a proper meal in Albufeira without the noise of the busiest tourist streets. Set a little outside the most crowded areas on R. do Movimento das Forças Armadas, it’s the kind of restaurant people happily return to—often more than once during the same trip—because the food lands exactly the way you hope it will.
The menu is built for anyone who loves hearty, well-cooked classics. Diners regularly praise the fresh fish options, especially regional recommendations that showcase local flavours without overcomplicating things. If you’re more in the mood for meat, you’re in safe hands: steaks are frequently described as standout, with generous portions and the kind of cooking that keeps them tender and satisfying. Salmon also gets a lot of love, and for something especially comforting, the lamb chops are often mentioned as incredibly tender and full of flavour.
Service here is a big part of the experience. Expect a friendly, accommodating team that keeps things flowing smoothly—even when the dining room is busy. The atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming, making it a good choice for couples, families, or anyone wanting a calm, quality dinner after a day at the beach.
Overall, Restaurante o manjar delivers what travellers look for when they say they want “a nice local place”: solid cooking, warm hospitality, and a setting that feels just off the beaten path while still being easy to reach in Albufeira. If you’re choosing one dinner to really settle in and enjoy, this is a strong contender for steak and seafood done right.

a week agoWe were led to this restaurant by a false image, suggesting it was the best place in town for cod. The interior was packed, suggesting a good standard. The service, delivered by a well-mannered gentleman, also gave no indication of what was to come. The bacalhau was supposed to be with vegetables, and it was—after all, potatoes are part of that noble class. Rubbery, with bones, not baked with potatoes, but it was there. The octopus was also rubbery, with onions and the obligatory... potatoes. The spaghetti bolognese looked poor, but apparently it was tasty. Overall, a huge disappointment.
