Praia do Vale da Lama sits at the western end of the Meia Praia sweep, near Odiáxere. It is a big, open beach with pale sand, dunes behind it and more space than the main Lagos beaches.
The appeal is scale rather than a single landmark. Use the long beach line, the low dunes and the open Atlantic for simple, horizontal frames. The sand also holds plenty of shells, including larger finds, so the beach works for close detail shots as well as wide, quiet compositions.
On the lagoon side, high tide can bring kitesurfing: sails, shallow water and movement in a flatter setting than the ocean-facing beach.
Access is informal. Park near the kite club, cross the isthmus and continue on foot through the Salinas area and dunes. Stay on the path where possible; the dunes are sensitive, and ground-nesting birds are a concern.
Who it’s for: landscape photographers who like negative space, beach walkers looking for a quieter stretch, shell-detail shooters and anyone linking Meia Praia with Ria de Alvor. It works best as a calm stop while you are already around Lagos, Meia Praia or Alvor.
