in the last weekWord on the grapevine said this was a nice little cafe for a casual lunch or a late breakfast. We had visitors over from England so we decided to take them. Big mistake. There were possibly two or three tables occupied inside and one other outside. Two more of the outside tables were occupied shortly after we arrived. 20 minutes sitting twiddling our thumbs and two trips inside to get service before we got a menu. We ordered simply - coffees, one cake and a couple of soft drinks. Almost half an hour and several ‘prods’ later before we were served. The cake was typical Portuguese fair - they don’t seem able to make a cake that suits English tastes over here (with the possible exception of those burnt egg custard things many people seem to like) and this was no exception - dry, sickly sweet and loaded with nuts. The pms e is ‘dog friendly’ and I’m afraid that’s a huge turn off for me. Right on a fairly busy road and selfish people smoking - I say selfish, clearly her own table were ‘anti’ so she came and stood by us instead!!! I would NOT recommend this place - maybe they had staff shortages, we’re having a bad day, whatever… but they need to address these issues.

a week agoWe really enjoyed this spot in the beautiful garden, with Fred the turtle who was very energetic and walked by several times. Nice menu; we ordered the crêpes, salad, ice cream, and milkshakes. Super sweet people! A real gem!
