Restaurante The Garden is a must-know spot for anyone craving a proper barbecue-style meal in Lagos. Set in a beautiful garden space, it’s the kind of restaurant where you can settle into an easy evening of outdoor dining, good music, and that unmistakable aroma from the grill drifting through the air. Even when there’s a short wait, the setup makes it painless—grab a drink at the bar, relax, and let the BBQ do the persuading.
The menu leans confidently into its strengths: generous, satisfying meat plates that are perfect for sharing (or keeping all to yourself). If you’re choosing where to start, the BBQ ribs and the meat plate are the crowd favorites for a reason. Diners love how the ribs come tender and saucy, with meat that pulls away easily and delivers that smoky-sweet payoff you want from a garden grill. The meat plate typically brings a mix—ribs, sausage, and pork—served with potatoes (and yes, swapping to fries is a popular move).
Steak lovers aren’t left out either. The sirloin gets singled out as a standout: well cooked, full of flavor, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that takes grilling seriously. Prefer chicken? You’ll find options that are seasoned properly and served fresh, plus starters like chicken satay that people talk about long after the meal—especially because the satay sauce is the sort of thing you wish you could bottle and take home.
Drinks are part of the experience here. The cocktail list and easygoing pricing make it a fun place to linger, with fruity favorites like a strawberry daiquiri landing particularly well on warm evenings. Add in friendly, efficient staff and the calm garden vibe (limes hanging overhead are a nice touch), and you’ve got a place that feels like a little escape right in the city.
For a relaxed night out with barbecue restaurant energy and a garden setting, Restaurante The Garden delivers the kind of meal you’ll happily plan around while you’re in Lagos.

in the last weekEverything was perfect. 2 visits in 7 days for dinner service. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was top-notch compared to many restaurants in Lagos. The waiters made an effort to speak French. The burger was incredibly good, and the meat platter was too. However, you absolutely must book at least 2 days in advance.

in the last weekVery nice ambiance, we ate steak that was cooked to perfection, the cocktails were also good, and to finish we had chocolate fudge cake which was excellent ,highly recommended. Be sure to call and make a reservation if you're in Lagos.

in the last weekTiny portions. I recommend the kefta, a plan for where you‘ll eat next to fill the void in your stomach, and a proper shampoo to wash the soot out of your hair. Especially the latter, as we were seated next to the grill, which meant we were closer to carbon monoxide poisoning than to satiation. Finally, what mastermind decided the tablespoon of joghurt served to me needed to be watered down severely in the effort of saving a few cents every year?
