Set back from the pine-fringed sweep of Praia da Falésia in Albufeira, the Falésia Hotel is the kind of four-star that wins people over the old-fashioned way — with staff who remember your name and rooms you actually want to come back to. Guests return year after year, many of them since the days when the hotel was family-owned, and that loyalty tells you most of what you need to know: this is a hotel with a genuine culture of hospitality rather than a script.

The rooms are large, spotless and quiet at night, with comfortable beds, properly hot showers and private balconies for that first slow coffee of the morning. Downstairs, the buffet runs deep at breakfast and dinner alike, with fresh, varied cooking that leans proudly Portuguese — adventurous eaters will be delighted, and there’s plenty of familiar territory for everyone else. Half-board here is popular for good reason: the varied choices change daily and the quality holds.

What visitors mention most, though, is the staff. Reception, restaurant, bar, housekeeping — the whole house operates with a friendliness that feels personal rather than professional, the sort of warmth where a receptionist quietly makes your whole stay easier. For a hotel of this size, that consistency is rare, and it shows up again and again in guests’ fondest memories of their trip.

The location seals it: a short stroll through the pines brings you to the clifftop boardwalks and golden sands of Praia da Falésia, one of the Algarve’s most photographed coastlines, while Albufeira’s old town and marina are an easy hop away. Shoulder-season stays are a particular pleasure, when the pool terraces are unhurried and the coast path is at its best. A dependable, warm-hearted base for a classic Algarve beach holiday.

This place was lovely. Adults only - but didn't book it for that. Really nice place to chill. Only one issue - brunch (toasted fish sandwich) was a little overcooked. And they need more spa services. Staff were really helpful, room was clean.

Food, service, and room service were all excellent. The location is great and easily accessible by Uber. The cleaning staff were very friendly, helpful, and kind. I would gladly stay again.

Stayed In a standard double room which was lovely and spacious. Staff very friendly. No need to rush for sunbeds in the morning. Only had breakfast which was good and lots of variety. Also has gym and an indoor pool. Will definitely stay here again.

Hadn't read the recent reviews before we went as booked over 6 months ago. This was our fifth visit to this hotel and while I can't fault the rooms and facilities (restaurant aside, as we don't eat evening meals here), I must say I agree with a lot of the negative comments. Positives first, the rooms remain immaculate and perfect for our needs. Still get a few personal touches which is nice including a bottle of bubbly and cake for wife's birthday. Cleanliness and maintenance remains excellent. It became quite clear that the hotel is under new management as I didn't recognize any of the team, but the greeting was good as usual. The pool area is still the massive plus, and although there was a much younger customer demographic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, thankfully the pool area remained quiet and comfortable to be around despite this. Now the negatives. What is noticeable is how quiet the bar is even in peak summer. I put this down to younger demographic not using these types of venues for their evening entertainment. Yet despite this, the biggest disappointment was the terrible bar service which I found totally unacceptable. Not once did we receive table service and every night I had to order drinks from the bar myself and was never offered to have them brought to us in the gardens. To compound this I didn't notice the service charges that was mentioned in previous reviews, however due to the service was so poor, we never tipped extra. Before considering returning, I would like to think the service issues in the bar have been addressed, as previouslythe bar staff were fantastic and an assetto the hotel. Breakfast remains good, however we found it near impossible to get a decaffeinated coffee and had to wait up to 15 minutes every day when asking for one. Such an easy fix to provide sachets at the self service machine. I love the area and will return as we have family over there. The local restaurants are excellent and beach is amazing, but whether it is here is up for debate, which is a shame. Overall really disappointed with what was once an amazing experience of standards and service.
