This free walk combines Tavira’s historic center with a scenic river crossing and island beach access—all without paying for boat tours.

From Faro: 30-minute drive east on N1 and N2
From Tavira: Train from Faro to Tavira (25 min, €2.65), then 10-minute walk to the river crossing

🚤 Use the traditional passenger ferry (€1.50 each way, cash only) to cross to Tavira Island. The ferry runs every 30 minutes. Arrive early (before 10am) for the best birdwatching on the mudflats during low tide. Bring binoculars—March migration brings species you won’t see in summer.
