If you want a relaxed overview of the city before diving into beaches, viewpoints, and neighborhoods on foot, Tourist trainTrusitrem is a smart choice in Albufeira. This cheerful transportation service is a practical way to get familiar with the layout—especially for first-time visitors or families who want sightseeing without the uphill walks.
People love it as a simple “first day” activity: hop aboard, enjoy the ride, and get a feel for the main areas so you can decide where to return later. It’s often described as a great way to see the highlights and pick places you’d like to explore further. The route is also popular with families—kids, in particular, tend to be delighted by the road-train experience, making it an easy win when you’re looking for something everyone can enjoy.
The experience is designed to be straightforward and holiday-friendly. Expect an enjoyable loop that gives you a quick sense of the town, and if you’re using it as transport while exploring, it can be a handy way to break up your day between sightseeing stops. Visitors also appreciate the helpful, attentive service—like when the driver noticed guests hurrying to the stop and waited, which can make a big difference when you’re navigating an unfamiliar area.
While some rides can feel on the shorter side if you’re expecting an all-day tour, it’s consistently recommended as a worthwhile activity thanks to the convenience and easygoing fun. For anyone traveling with children, limited time, or simply wanting a low-effort introduction to the area, Tourist trainTrusitrem offers an enjoyable way to add a bit of sightseeing to your day—without overplanning or overthinking it.
Find it along Av. dos Descobrimentos and consider riding early in your trip: it’s one of the easiest ways to orient yourself and turn “Where should we go next?” into a confident plan.

5 months agoHot and bothered! Train broke down and we had to wait for a second. Train didn’t keep to timetable very well. After buying hop on off tickets day for five people (I actually think I was overcharged too!) on the second line I was challenged that the ticket was the wrong date and asked to pay again (scam?) I refused and I just put my family on the train (the ticket was dated the previous day) Parts of the ride were scenic but much of it was pretty dull. Kids enjoyed the ride.

9 months agoFor kids, it's great fun. Our 3yr old granddaughter loved the train. We took the combo ticket so we could come on both trains. Trains run to a regular timetable. You can buy tickets using card. And the driver and staff on the train or helpful. If you're staying outside of albufeira, it's a nice way to see the town and drop in without too much hassle especially if you park at the marina and take the train to the old Town. On the not so good side : On hot days, and let's face it most days in the summer are hot, with the train moving so slowly there's not much ventilation so inside the carriage gets very hot. The diesel train also emits quite a lot of particulate and carbon monoxide when going uphill. Which made us all feel quite a bit sick at the end of the trip. We really couldn't wait to get off. I think having an electric motor would help. It's not very scenic, the train just weaves around hotels without much to see really. I can imagine it's a good way in the early evening to hop on and off and visit a few bars. I suppose it's something to do once if you're in town.

2 years agoLoved it on the road train. What a great way to see the main parts of Albufeira! Very good value for money, too. The only criticism I would have that the trip around, itself is rather short, but 100% worth doing. Would highly recommend it to anybody visiting, especially if you have kids. The driver was great on the day too, waited as he saw us running to the stop.

2 years agoKids really wanted a ride on the tourist train, obviously they got their way! We did a 'once round' on the red route which pretty much went up to the new town area and back again. It was OK, I'd imagine it would be useful to use for hopping on / off if spending the day exploring the area. Important thing is the kids enjoyed it!
