We went in to the tourist information centre to get a town map. There were a number on a shelf stating free. I took 3 because we were a group of 7 individuals. The woman shouted at me not to take all the maps . I explained that we were 7 individuals wanting to explore on our own. I put them back . Felt intimidated to ask anything else. Dreadful so called welcome. .

I was very happy with the help assistance to my questions however .....really gutted to have missed the guy who is referenced quite a few times. Has he left for a more suitable job ? Or were the customers just a bit too much now I will never know.

We loved our three days in Tavira. The only disappointment was the tourist office. The only useful information we received there was what we could get ourselves by picking up the town map and the ferry schedule to the island. The man we spoke to was unhelpful and unfriendly. They had no information on local walks and we were told to get the information on the Fado concerts ourselves at the church where they are held. We couldn't look at a bird book before buying it. The man had to show it to us from his side of the plexiglass.
