Restaurante A Carpintaria is a welcoming, laid-back restaurant in Luz that’s easy to fall for—especially if you like generous portions, friendly staff, and food with real flavour. It’s a popular stop for visitors coming back from the beach or settling in for an unhurried dinner, and it also suits anyone staying nearby who wants a reliable place to eat well without fuss.
The menu has plenty to like, but the dishes that guests rave about are the spicy, grill-forward favourites. The peri-peri chicken is a standout—often described as some of the best-tasting chicken people have had, with enough flavour to make you want to share (and enough portion to keep you happily full). Seafood lovers aren’t left out either: the peri-peri prawns bring a punchy heat that’s frequently called fantastic, making them a great choice if you like your meal with a little kick.
To balance the spice, the salads get a lot of love too—fresh, satisfying, and a smart addition if you’re building a meal for the table. And when it comes to finishing strong, desserts are often described as outstanding, which makes it worth saving a little room even after a hearty main.
What really rounds out the experience is the team. The staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, helping the place feel relaxed whether you’re there for a quick bite or a longer evening with wine. Speaking of wine, the list is another plus—good options at reasonable prices that make dinner feel like great value.
Practical details matter too: there’s parking, and if you’re staying in the Tavira de Luz area it’s an easy walk. For visitors and locals alike looking for peri-peri prawns, comforting plates, and warm service, A Carpintaria is a dependable choice you’ll likely return to during your stay.

a month agoThe Javali Stew was perfect. So delicious and a generous portion. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection. That's the positive comments. Negative comments... the menu stated "batata fritas" and my husband expected a side portion of chips. The restaurant actually serve homemade crisps. There were no vegetables which detracted from a) the plate appearance and b) a complete meal.... a lettuce leaf, piece of tomato etc would make all the difference. The restaurant was freezing. The waitress wore an insulated jacket. I ate with my coat around my shoulders. Definitely a place to revisit in the warmer weather.

2 months agoFamily of four, we stopped here on our drive between Sevilla and Salema. The food was absolutely delicious; incredibly fresh and well prepared. We had a combination of meat and fish dishes and they were among the best meals we have had on our trip. The wood fire was lovely and the staff was very helpful. We highly recommend stopping if you are in the area.
