O Ninho is a stylish place to stay and perfect for group trips, with a variety of both indoor and outdoor living spaces. Included in the rental is the main house and a pool house. Lovingly built with high-beamed ceilings and terracotta floors, the spaces have a luxurious yet charming feel. Enjoy the privacy and tranquility from the pool and lush garden. Although beaches, shops and restaurants are only a 3-minute drive away, the area feels peaceful and secluded.
The space
At the top of the property there is a wooden yoga platform that overlooks Monchique and the surrounding hills. It’s a beautiful space for sunrise yoga or sunset yoga. The space is private and cannot be viewed by neighbors.
Following the garden path down from the yoga deck leads you to the pool area, which is surrounded by terraced succulent gardens. We have lounge chairs around the pool as well as a shaded cabaña-like space. Here is where there’s the pool house the pool house looks out onto the pool area.
The pool house is a fan favorite of everyone that comes to O Ninho.
The pool house has one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen and living room. Although the pool house receives nearly a full day of sun the main bedroom remains cool throughout the summer. Both the kitchen and the bathroom have been remodeled in the spring of 2023. Chic micro cement and gun metal black fixtures make the place feel clean and minimal. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and there’s a washing machine as well. The kitchen is small but feels expensive as there’s a large open window connecting to the living room which makes the space feel collective yet separate. A large raw wall, choice furniture and a bounty of plants bring the place to life.
Outside, the pool area is a true oasis. Surrounded by lush date palms and succulent terraces equipped with plenty of lounge chairs and a shaded lounge. The pool receives nearly a full day’s sun, making it pleasant enough to take a dip even on cooler evenings. As the sun sets, twinkling string lights illuminate the area, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.
Down a few steps is the main house’s patio pavilion with a large table that sits 8. There is also a pizza oven and bar area with a mini refrigerator.
The highlight of the main house is the large, recently renovated kitchen with high stools at the center island and a large open plan that includes a sitting area. The master bedroom is 35m² and has a king size bed, a large, full body mirror, a complete bathroom that was renovated in the spring of 2024. The second bedroom is 25m² in size with a queen size bed and built-in closets. Both rooms keep cool during the summer heat. They also have ACs. The office or optional third bedroom is flooded with morning sunlight and has a full size bed, tall desk and handmade bookshelf. This room does not have an AC but it does have a fan.
The house is equipped with modern amenities, such as Wi-Fi, cooking appliances and washing machine. There are many custom-made wooden furniture pieces throughout the house all of locally sourced wood. The house has been, and is always in, the process of being remodeled with care and a design eye.
The north side of the house has a grassy area with morning shade and spectacular sunsets. There is also a trampoline. No animals allowed please.
Other things to note
The house has two official bedrooms and then an office that is an optional bedroom. The office is NOT the living room or common space. It has a fan for cooling but no AC.
The poolhouse has one official bedroom.
