Lands – Ria Formosa Natural Park Eco Boat Tours – Solar Boat is a standout choice for anyone who wants to explore the lagoon in a calmer, cleaner way. Departing from the marina at Av. da República, this boat tour agency brings you right into the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park—without the noise and fumes that can take you out of the moment. The solar boat feels peaceful on the water, so you can actually hear the nature around you while you glide past sandbanks, channels, and bird-rich wetlands.
What makes these trips memorable is how engaging the guiding is. Guests often mention how entertaining and friendly the guide is, keeping the experience light while still packed with insight. If you’re into wildlife, this is a brilliant way to spend an afternoon: expect plenty of birdwatching, with sightings that can include storks, spoonbills, and even those blink-and-you-miss-them kingfishers flashing across the water. Because the boat is quiet, you get a better chance to spot movement along the reeds and shoreline—and to soak up the atmosphere without feeling rushed.
Sunset fans should put the eco-friendly evening outing high on the list. The changing colours over the lagoon make Faro look incredible from the water, and visitors regularly describe the views as genuinely stunning. It’s also an easy experience to book and join, which is ideal if you’re planning around flight times or only have a short stay in Faro. Whether you’re travelling as a couple, with friends, or with family, the pace works well for mixed ages—relaxing, scenic, and full of those “did you see that?” moments.
If you want a nature-first experience that still feels fun and social, this is it: a smooth ride, a guide who keeps things engaging, and a front-row seat to one of the Algarve’s most iconic ecosystems. For an unforgettable, low-impact way to discover the lagoon, this solar boat tour delivers the kind of experience you’ll be talking about long after you’re back on shore.

3 years agoBrilliant afternoon on the bird watching boat trip with my son and his family (6 of us) with some other tourists. Guide was very informative and pointed out a variety of birds we don't see in the UK such as storks and spoonbills. Stars of the journey however were the pair of kingfishers which flashed passed us on several occasions. Also spectacular was the views of Faro from the water.

3 years agoI booked an eco-friendly sunset tour with a solar boat with this company. It was very easy and I really loved the tour. Also the tour guide was very friendly. The pictures are without any filter so the view was really stunning.

2 years agoWe really enjoyed the eco tour, at low tide in a solar powered boat, which was so quiet it didn't disturb the wildlife. We saw many species of birds and crabs, and our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful

3 years agoWe had a lovely tour with Luis. He was very informative and funny. Even though we didn't book the bird watching tour, we still got some binoculars and watched the birds while Luis shared some information about them. We drove an electrical boat so it was very quiet and we got the chance to come very close to the birds and crabs. Our tour started at 10 am, so we saw a lot of the famous Ria Formosa as there was low tide. Overall we had a lovely and peaceful experience and would like to thank Luis for that.
