Caves, Kayaks & Coastal Legends: Unforgettable Tours in Lagos

BlueFleet is a top pick in Lagos for travelers who want to experience the Algarve coastline up close—by boat, by kayak, or both. Conveniently located near the marina with easy access and practical amenities nearby, this operator is known for running well-organized trips that feel effortless from start to finish.

The boat tours are all about getting you into the action: expect close-up views of caves, grottoes, and dramatic rock formations that define this stretch of Portugal’s coast. Captains are often described as true pros, with the skill to maneuver into tight, cave-like areas while keeping the ride safe and comfortable. If you’re after a shorter option, the popular grotto tour (around an hour) packs in an impressive amount of scenery—perfect for families or anyone building an itinerary with multiple activities in a day.

Guiding is a real strength here. Guests regularly mention friendly, knowledgeable guides who explain what you’re seeing in a clear, engaging way—adding context that makes the coastline more than just a pretty backdrop. And sometimes the ocean adds its own surprise: dolphins can appear on the return journey, and the team is known to pause the route so you can properly enjoy the moment instead of rushing past it.

For a more hands-on adventure, BlueFleet’s kayak outings add a completely different perspective. Launch support is well-coordinated, equipment is kept clean and in great condition, and the route often includes time to swim and paddle through coastal cave openings. What makes it special is the storytelling—guides share local history, legends, and details about the cliff formations so the trip feels immersive rather than just athletic.

Logistics are refreshingly easy too. Free parking near the meeting point helps take the stress out of arrival, and having bathrooms on site is a simple detail that makes a big difference. If you go outside peak summer months, consider bringing a light jacket for the ride—calm on the way out, brisker on the way back.

If you want coastal cave tours, thoughtful guiding, and a polished operation that still feels personal, BlueFleet is a reliable choice for exploring the best of Lagos by sea.

We had a fabulous experience with this company. It was only 2 of us , so it felt like a VIP private tour 👌👌👌👌👌. We visited all possible caves and grottoes. Our captain was a real pro🤗. There's a free parking right in front of the office and meeting point in the marina, which was very convenient. Our boat was in great shape and looked brand new, it was the perfect size to visit all grottoes. Thank you for amazing trip!🫶🤗✨️

Sam was great. We to a boat tour and got a fantastic view of the caves. There was a young lady with Sam (I forgot her name) who explained everything very well. We also took a kayak tour in the afternoon. Michael was our kayak guide. Nunu and Rodrigo were also aboard helping launch the kayaks. The entire staff was great. They made the trip 100% more enjoyable. Michael had so much knowledge of the rock formations and helped us understand all the legends and history that is etched into the coastline of Portugal. We got to swim in the water and circle through the coastline caves in our kayaks. All of the equipment was clean and the boats were brand new. Great company to go with. We would definitely use blue fleet again.

Went on the short “grotto tour” that took just over an hour to complete. The guides were great and knowledgeable of the area and sites. They did an excellent job of maneuvering the boat into cave like areas and provided a safe and fun experience that my teen daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed. We were lucky enough to pass by a school of dolphins on the way back and our guides stopped their regular route to let us take in the site. For the trip you really don’t need anything, there’s free parking close by and bathrooms to use on site. I might suggest a jacket or sweater for the ride as they go out fairly slow but then on return take a more direct and brisk pace. We went early November and the weather and conditions were perfect but recommend checking before you book.

Grotto Tour-I could not decide between the Grotto and Benagil tours, so I did both on consecutive mornings. Both tours offer incredible views and provide distinct experiences. The guides were fun and informative. On the Grotto Tour, I was delighted to see so many beaches from the water. We visited many caves and marveled at the beautiful, clear water. The boat was very comfortable, and we were able to move around for better views of a large jellyfish.

Best Benagil Cave experience in Lagos! Captain Sam & Skipper Fanny were true professionals with enthusiasm, energy, and expertise! So happy to do business with a tour group that equally prides itself on culture and conservation.
