I knew from day one this hotel was getting 5 stars. We had big plans to explore the surrounding area, but couldn’t tear ourselves away from this beautiful, peaceful, well-appointed property. We never even left it! There are so many wonderful things to say about the Viceroy at Ombria, it’s hard to know where to begin. The service was IMPECCABLE. The staff is not only kind and helpful, they’re anticipating needs before we could even ask. From the moment we arrived the guys down at the valet were quick to welcome and help us. Even upon departure they loaded our bags and gave us water for the road. At reception we were immediately offered cold towels and lemonade, informed about the benefits we had available to us, given information about the property and the curated experiences offered, and escorted to a lovely lounge while they ensured our room was prepared. Front desk staff was top notch the entire time. Ramis was especially thoughtful and went out of his way to help us out during our stay. We were SO impressed with him. The guest experience team has SO many options for really unique experiences you can do during your stay- they’re super communicative and helpful. Roberta is the WARMEST, kindest human being ever. We felt like she was genuinely invested in our experience and excited to share her Portugal and the beauty of the area with us. We felt so taken care of by Roberta and really appreciated her thoughtful recommendations. She makes you feel like a real friend. I wanted to hug her when we left! On our first night we had a private wine tasting with João that was next level. The wines were excellent, the service and education he gave us on Portuguese wine was lovely and informative, and he was just such a cool guy. João really made it an awesome experience. We highly recommend booking the wine tasting! Also love that they feature Portuguese wine on their menus. The focus on local culture, and supporting local producers is brilliant. On another night at dinner, Alex was AMAZING to us in continuing to share more information about the wines on their list, and even had me try a couple until he found the perfect wine for my meal. Truly impeccable service. Alex was the best- so knowledgeable, so fun, so helpful! Every culinary experience at this property exceeds expectations. From the cafe to the restaurant to room service- perfection. The quality of the food, the presentation, and the service. And very, very accommodating to vegans! The servers and hostesses were all lovely and helpful. Even the poolside service was five star. Those guys were quick with umbrellas and towels, food and drink service, and we even saw them interacting with some of the kids at the pool- making them laugh and making kids feel like important guests, too. They went so far as to make us protein shakes with the vegan protein I brought after a hard gym workout. The gym is also amazing. Highly recommend the sauna and pool behind the gym for some really relaxing post workout recovery. The breakfast was FANTASTIC. The hostess was always warm and welcoming. The fresh fruit selection needs a special call out. It was AMAZING. They offered a beautiful rotation of tropical fruit every morning- everything was fresh and delicious. But the STAR OF THE SHOW IS PAULO. He makes everyone feel special the moment they sit down. He knows what you need before you do, he’s kind and supportive to the staff around him, and he brightens the day from the very start! We took advantage of the morning yoga classes offered and highly recommended taking a class with Monica. She is an incredible, thoughtful, grounded teacher who meets the needs of students at all levels. If you’ve never done yoga before, or if you’ve done it for years, Monica will deliver the class you need. Her energy was so peaceful and relaxing. And the yoga studio at the spa, like every other part of this property, is STUNNING. I cannot stop gushing about this property! 10/10, no notes.

A truly beautiful establishment; everything was perfect from breakfast to dinner. The staff we encountered were very professional, helpful, and attentive to my partner's celiac condition, which was greatly appreciated. We will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a peaceful retreat.
