Cook, Taste, and Learn Algarve Flavors in Tavira

Taste Algarve – Cooking Classes – Tavira – Algarve is a hands-on way to connect with the region through food—ideal if your favorite souvenirs are new skills, memorable meals, and recipes you’ll actually remake at home. Hosted at Monte do Álamo Agroturismo in Tavira, this welcoming culinary school offers cooking experiences that feel personal, practical, and rooted in local tradition.

Rather than a demonstration you simply watch, these classes are designed for participation. You’ll get guidance step-by-step, with time to ask questions and understand the techniques behind the dishes. The setting outside the bustle of town adds to the experience: it’s calm, comfortable, and perfectly suited to slowing down and enjoying the process of cooking.

Expect a focus on Algarve-inspired flavors and approachable methods—think seasonal ingredients, balanced seasoning, and the kind of smart kitchen tips that make a real difference later. The goal is to leave with confidence, whether you’re a beginner who wants a friendly introduction or a keen home cook looking to expand your repertoire with Portuguese ideas. The experience naturally ends the best way possible: sitting down to enjoy what you’ve made, turning a class into a shared meal.

If you’re planning a trip with a couple, friends, or family, a session here adds something different to your Tavira days—especially if you’ve already done the beaches and want an activity that’s both relaxing and genuinely useful. For travelers seeking cooking classes that feel local, warm, and well-structured, this is a standout option in Tavira and a rewarding taste of the Algarve.

It was a wonderful evening. Welcomed by Mariana. Enjoyed the garden tour and Ines’s knowledgeable and interesting explanation of the property, its produce and the sustainable growing environment the farm is committed to. The cooking class experience was memorable. I was so interested in learning how to use the Cataplana. Ines is a great teacher and explainer of techniques and very patient. The dinner itself in the lovely garden room was delicious, after all our hard work! I especially enjoyed the cheese dish, I will definitely try it back at home in Australia. Altogether an excellent experience. I would definitely like to come back, maybe to stay in the bed and breakfast. Thank you so much. Best wishes, Patricia Tinson

Our group of 5 participated in a cooking class with dinner at the farm on 4/30. The experience was wonderful. The views spectacular and the food delicious. There was one other person at the class which made for great conversation and lots of laughter and connection during the experience. Definitely recommend. And, stay there if you can. If the casita where we dined is any indication, the rooms must have stunning views and be wonderful. Mia

This cooking class is among the best we have enjoyed. Here is why: simple but beautiful dishes that taste amazing. Our hosts purchased the local goat cheese (appy) and the fish/seafood (main) that day. We had an amazing hot goat cheese app, followed by a delicious fish & seafood cataplana we made (fish was sea bream bought at market that morning); seafood was shrimp; veggies included fresh tomatoes and peppers and onions/potatoes...was delicious. And the dessert - well it is so simple but so darn scrumptious! a small twist to a lemon meringue pie in my opinion is the nearest comparison but so much better....This is a must do! Any the dinner venue was stunning!
