Casa da Maré, set by the waterfront at Largo da Ribeira, is a go-to seafood restaurant in Alvor for anyone craving that unmistakable coastal feeling: the smell of the grill, a table with a view, and plates that lean heavily into Algarve tradition. It’s the type of place people return to every trip because it delivers exactly what you want on a seaside evening—super fresh fish, generous portions, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger.
The menu is a celebration of the ocean, and guests frequently talk about how fresh and delicious everything tastes. Seafood platters for two are a popular choice when you want variety on the table—think clams, mussels, prawns, and pasta in a sharing-style meal that feels like a proper feast without being overcomplicated. If you prefer to keep it classic, grilled favourites often steal the spotlight: sardines, sea bream, monkfish, octopus, prawns on skewers, and Algarve tuna are all dishes that diners highlight as standouts.
One of the restaurant’s most charming touches is the open, visual energy around the cooking. Guests love being able to see food grilled within view of the table, adding a bit of theatre and confidence—what you’re ordering is what you’re getting, hot from the flame and served with minimal delay. Even on busy weekends, it’s known as the kind of place where you can arrive later in the evening and still feel well looked after, with a smooth, welcoming flow from seating to service.
Atmosphere is a big part of why Casa da Maré works so well. Sitting roadside with a clear look toward the sunset turns dinner into an event, especially when paired with a cold beer or a bottle of rosé. The staff are often described as genuinely kind and attentive, helping keep the mood light while ensuring everything arrives exactly as it should.
If you want fresh grilled seafood in Alvor with beautiful views and a warm, lively vibe, Casa da Maré is an easy choice—perfect for couples, families, or anyone hungry after a day by the water.

in the last weekA truly fantastic restaurant. We ate there two out of four evenings because we enjoyed it so much each time. If you arrive before 6:30 pm, you can easily get a table. A queue forms outside the restaurant by 7:15 pm at the latest. We highly recommend the tuna Algarve style and the seafood spaghetti. The mussels as an appetizer were also delicious. It's wonderful to sit there at sunset and enjoy the wine and food. The service is friendly.

a week agoThe service was lackadaisical, they cleared the plate quickly. The fish was good, but the lamb was awful. The appetizers were underwhelming.
