Tucked away on R. do Compromisso, A Venda is one of those places you’ll want to keep on your short list when you’re hungry for something genuinely local in Faro. This welcoming spot blends the feel of a neighbourhood favourite with the kind of cooking that celebrates the Algarve—simple, fresh, and full of character. If you’re exploring the historic centre or staying nearby, it’s an easy choice for a relaxed lunch or an unhurried dinner where the focus stays firmly on the food.
As an eat & drink restaurant, A Venda suits a wide range of plans: a casual meal after sightseeing, a quieter table for couples, or a laid-back meet-up with friends. The atmosphere is warm and informal, making it easy to settle in, take your time, and enjoy the rhythm of the city. Expect a menu that leans into traditional Portuguese comfort—seasonal ingredients, straightforward preparation, and flavours that feel distinctly southern.
What really stands out here is the sense of place. Dining at A Venda feels like a small introduction to Faro itself: local ingredients, unpretentious plates, and a setting that encourages you to slow down. If you’re the type who prefers a meal that’s more about authenticity than fuss, you’ll appreciate the focus on honest cooking and a relaxed dining experience. It’s also a strong pick when you want to avoid touristy crowds and eat somewhere that feels grounded in the neighbourhood.
Conveniently located at R. do Compromisso 60, A Venda is a practical stop whether you’re wandering through central Faro or planning an evening out in town. For visitors, it’s a dependable way to try Portuguese favourites without overthinking it; for locals, it’s the kind of restaurant you can return to when you want a familiar, satisfying meal. When you’re looking for a Portuguese restaurant in Faro that keeps things genuine, A Venda is well worth a visit.

in the last weekI can't judge whether the food was good, but as a solo diner, I was immediately offered the cramped aisle table with a child's highchair. The waitress was very arrogant and told me that if I wanted to eat there, I should sit there. I felt very poorly treated as a guest and left immediately. Service is either good or it isn't.

in the last weekLovely Portuguese cuisine in a very family-friendly atmosphere and decor. And a very warm welcome. The portions aren't huge, but that's just fine. My favorite was the pickled pork!

3 weeks agoSuper tasty roasted cabbage and smoked chestnuts, and the carob and almond roll with lemon curd was just amazing. Combined with the ambiance and the sophisticated music, this is easily my favourite dinner out in Faro!

a month agoLimited menu. The beef stew was good, and the rabbit and beans were also good. They were made with care. There was a kind of omelet with a mixture of minced meats or sausages that was a terrible combination. They really missed having a simple main course, like grilled meat, without spices. The desserts were good. They don't accept card payments.
